Baral Biddya Niketan School is featured in “The Rivers That Bind Us,” a chapter of Spatial (In)Justice: How Does It Manifest in the Built Environment? Written by Iqbal Habib, Rubana Huq and Shadman Iqbal, the chapter traces the relationship between the Baral River, the communities who depend on it, and their long campaign to protect it.

The school grew from that collective effort. The chapter describes how its courtyard, open classrooms and locally sourced materials connect children’s everyday learning with the landscape around them. It also reflects on the school’s wider purpose: making education more accessible while helping a new generation understand the river and their role in caring for it.
