Description
Based on our survey findings, the majority of park-goers are novices participating in sports activities. However, certain demographics, including young children, seniors, and females, felt deterred from utilizing the park's playground due to its previous layout. Recognizing the need for inclusivity and revitalization, our team undertook the task of redesigning and rejuvenating the park to ensure accessibility for all. Throughout the redesign process, we encountered numerous challenges hindering the park's ability to cater to diverse visitors.
The park's existing infrastructure posed significant hurdles to inclusivity. Despite featuring a pathway, maintenance was lacking, and there were limited amenities to accommodate visitors. However, the park hosts the congregational Eid prayer annually, yet it lacked essential elements such as grass, proper drainage, and seating arrangements, beyond the rudimentary walkway constructed atop tree trunks. Additionally, a memorial to language martyrs adorns the northeastern boundary of the park.
Adhering to community needs, particular attention was given to the positioning of the Mehrab, crucial for Eid prayers. Consequently, the pedestrian walkway was constructed with a notch of 278°10, referencing the Qibla direction at the Mehrab's location. Furthermore, the design prioritized user comfort and convenience. The gallery's steps were crafted to provide a seamless and comfortable experience, suitable for strolling or lounging. Inclusive amenities, including a children's play area, seating spaces, and public facilities, were incorporated into the park's layout, tailored to meet the diverse preferences of its visitors.
