Description
The architectural concept for the renovation and expansion of the Nazrul Institute in Bangladesh is to create a space that embodies the spirit of Kazi Nazrul Islam and his ideals of freedom, progressiveness, and rebellion against oppression. The existing building, which is located beside the poet's residence, has reached its limit of occupancy and needs an extension to accommodate the institute's growing operations. The proposal suggests renovating the current building and remodeling the interior to create a more progressive and open appearance. Additionally, a new 9-story building will be constructed to replace the worn-off old buildings and provide additional functionalities such as a recording studio, research facilities, acoustic classrooms, and parking spaces. The renovated and new buildings will be integrated to create a thriving public congregation space and a sense of honesty in their sighting. The institute aims to promote study and research on the poet, collect and preserve his works, organize conferences and seminars, establish a rich library, and provide training in Nazrul sangeet, poems, and literature. Overall, the architectural concept seeks to honor the rebel poet and create a space that reflects his ideals and contributions to Bangla literature.
