Description
The most thrilling places are those that are alive, continuously adapting by repurposing their past for the succeeding generations of inhabitants. Often, this requires the reuse of existing structures, making restorations, renovations, and other transformations pivotal to a city's vitality—be it at the level of single-family homes or expansive post-industrial complexes. On this matter, here comes our sincere role as designers. This particular residential project articulates the relationship between the pre and post-liberation war era impression of architecture that sparked the revitalization of a family home to an whole condominium.
Capitalizing on the plot's north-facing orientation, we opted to incorporate large windows in that façade, leveraging the ambient light reflected from adjacent buildings to enhance the interior atmosphere. Furthermore, a sophisticated blend of materials, predominantly concrete with accents of natural wood, to infuse the structure with a sense of timeless elegance is used.
The fundamental concept aimed to preserve the spaciousness of the environment, achieved through an open front lawn, minimal intervention on the ground floor, ample incorporation of natural light. The open floor plan facilitates seamless transitions between different areas, promoting effortless and fluid movement throughout the entire residence. Atop the structure lies a garden that seamlessly merges with the lawn below, nurturing a charming green landscape from top to bottom.
