Description
The aviation and aerospace sectors will become the new driving frontier for Bangladesh. With this vision, the GoB has envisioned the establishment of the "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace Universityā€¯ (BSMRAAU). This university is the first and foremost of its kind in Bangladesh. An Academic Master Plan for 20 years has been prepared for BSMRAAU with consultation from international experts. The master plan was developed in accordance with the Academic Master Plan. Besides, the social and environmental impacts due to the implementation of the university establishment were taken into consideration through Social Impact Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments, Traffic Impact Analysis, Hydrology Analysis, Rainfall and Flood Simulation and the overall Feasibility Study.
In order to develop an international-standard campus facility, the BSMRAAU campus masterplan team included Bangladeshi and Japanese architects, urban planners, structural engineers, utility engineers, waste management experts and numerous other professionals.
The project will involve building infrastructure and facilities, including 7 faculties, 45 departments, 4 institutes, 63 laboratories, and other installations. The technical design is prepared using green and sustainable design concepts, considering local weather, sun path, rainfall, river flow, flood characteristics, earthquake resilience, and other considerations. Minimal land development is considered, with land development limited to adjacent spaces of built areas and infrastructures.
However, the university will create an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Club for students and flexible workplaces that promote ideation, creativity, and design thinking. Sustainability is crucial, as it ensures the capacity to satisfy current needs without jeopardizing the potential of future generations.
