VITTI recived the Commonwealth Association of Architects Environmental Impact Commendation at the 2024 CAA Awards in Kigali, Rwanda, on August 23.
Our project depicts a simple yet powerful truth idea: that communities should actively shape their surrounded open spaces where they feel at home. Instead of imposing a design, we pursued to co-create something meaningful by joining hands with those who would live, play, and find joy in these spaces.
The process was marked by three-fold approach: one, conducting user-group questionnaire surveys, second Participatory Rapid Appraisal (PRA) sessions in impact area, and third the Minecraft game to interact with school children mind in collaboration with UN-Habitat.
The journey was full of challenges. But we overcame them with unwavering determination and a steadfast commitment to our vision.
This is probably the first public space in Dhaka truly co-created with user-group. The diversity of the locality is reflected in the design, with each park having its own unique character.
